2024 All-Star Signs with the Braves

MLB

Free agent and former utility man Jurickson Profar has reached a contract agreement with the Atlanta Braves. The deal is worth $42 million over three years. Coming off of the best season of his career, Profar has plenty of upside to be a great signing. His ability to provide the Braves quality at-bats along with his defensive versatility make him a very important pickup for the Braves this offseason.

In 2024, Jurickson Profar posted career-high numbers in many different categories. Starting with 3.6 WAR and 158 hits in 158 games played, Profar also posted a .280 batting average, 24 home runs, and 85 runs batted in. All of these career highs led Profar to his first career all-star appearance and his first career Silver Slugger Award. Although Profar played left field almost exclusively in 2024, it is worth noting that he has at least 20 major league starts in every single position, excluding only pitcher and catcher, making Profar one of the most versatile players in all of baseball.

Also, in 2024, Profar received MVP votes for the first time in his career. Although he only placed 14th in voting, he still ranked above other great MLB stars, including his teammates Manny Machado, who finished 16th, Luis Arráez, who finished 18th, and Fernando Tatis Jr., who did not receive any votes. Having debuted early at the age of 19, Profar will only be 32 by the time the 2025 season begins despite having 11 years of service time. With plenty of years left, Profar may be proving to get better with age. While an MVP season is unlikely for Profar, if he can replicate or improve on his numbers last year, he will become quite a valuable piece to the Braves come October.
