Can the Bears Get a Win Over the Battered and Bruised 49ers?

NFL

Now on a six-game losing streak, the Bears travel to San Francisco in Week 14 to face a team that is now at one of their weakest points of the season. Last Sunday night in Buffalo, the 49ers lost to the Bills 35-10 while also losing their star running back Christian McCaffrey in the process. McCaffrey had to exit the game early due to a PCL injury in his right knee, which is going to put him on the shelf for at least six weeks. He already had to miss the first eight games of the season with an Achilles injury; now he has to sit for most likely the remainder of the season. Not only did the 49ers lose McCaffrey, they also lost their star receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who was lost earlier in the year with a torn ACL.

As fans, we never pray for injuries to happen, but this may be a golden opportunity for the Bears to snap their losing streak as they face San Francisco without their top stars. This will be the first game of the season the Bears play without Matt Eberflus as their head coach, who was fired after the loss to the Lions 23-20 on Thanksgiving last Thursday. Offensive coordinator Thomas Brown is stepping in as the interim head coach for now until Chicago can find a new coach. Brown looks to get the Bears back on the right track, as he’s done a pretty good job running Caleb Williams and the offense. In their three games against the NFC North, the strongest division in the NFL, the Bears have kept the games within a one-scoring margin, losing to the Vikings and Lions by three and losing to the Packers by one.

Chicago has five more games left of the season, which means it’s time for them to flip a switch now with Eberflus gone. With Thomas Brown running the show, the Bears look to snap their losing streak with a win over San Francisco. After that, they look ahead to facing each of the NFC North teams one last time, as well as the Seahawks. Maybe things will take a turn for the better with Thomas Brown leading the charge for Chicago, but only time will tell.
