Chiefs Wide Receiver Trio Could Take Off in 2025
The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t win the Super Bowl last year. They came up just short, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles. Outside of Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes didn’t have many consistent weapons last season. This was mostly due to injury, but that could definitely change in 2025. Having three legit threats outside means Kelce can find more space underneath and get into open space. Getting consistent production from the wide receivers will be key to the Chiefs’ success this season.
The Chiefs are counting on a healthy Rashee Rice, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, and a big second-year jump from Xavier Worthy. If all three step up, this offense could return to being one of the best in the league. Rice had a strong rookie season and was breaking out last season before tearing his ACL. He found chemistry with Mahomes and became the team’s most reliable wide receiver down the stretch. If he stays healthy and avoids suspension, he’s expected to take on an even bigger role.
Hollywood Brown was brought in to bring speed and experience. He dealt with injuries last season as well, but when he’s on the field, he can be a difference-maker. The Chiefs don’t need him to be a superstar. They just need a reliable option who can stretch the field and keep defenses honest.
Then there’s Xavier Worthy. The rookie showed flashes last year, but 2025 could be his breakout season. He is one of the fastest players in the NFL and has massive big-play potential. If he breaks out the way everyone thinks he can, the sky's the limit for this offense.
With Rice as the go-to guy, Brown as a veteran target, and Worthy taking the top off of defenses, the Chiefs might finally have a balanced wide receiver group again. That would take pressure off of Kelce and open up the entire offense. After a season in which Mahomes only threw for twenty-six passing touchdowns with eleven interceptions, it is safe to say he needs a reliable receiving core this year. If this trio stays healthy and productive, it could be the key to Kansas City getting back to the Super Bowl and winning it this time.
