Career Summary

Lowry turned professional in 2009 and joined the PGA Tour in 2015. He has a total of seven career wins, including one Major Championship win. Two of his career wins came on the PGA Tour at the 2015 World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and the 2024 Zurich Classic in New Orleans. He also has four International wins which were at the 2009 Irish Open, the 2012 Portugal Masters, the 2019 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, and the 2022 BMW PGA Championship. The Irishman’s one Major Championship win came at the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. In the 188 Tour events that the 37-year-old has played, he has made the cut 140 times, finished runner-up four times, has four top-three finishes, 14 top-five finishes, and 30 top-10 finishes. His elite ball striking has always given him a chance for a top-of-the-leaderboard finish any time he’s teed it up at an event. Lowry’s Major Championship record is a little better than mediocre. In the 46 Majors that he’s played, he’s made the cut 31 times, finished runner-up once, finished third once, has four top-five finishes, nine top-10 finishes, and 19 top-25 finishes. He’s also represented Ireland at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic games and was a part of the European Ryder Cup Team in 2020 and 2023. Lowry is currently ranked 19th in strokes gained total, 41st in strokes gained off the tee, 69th in strokes gained on approach shots, 44th in strokes gained around the green, and 60th in strokes gained putting. He is currently the 19th-ranked player on the official world golf rankings.

2025 Expectations

Lowry has played in three tour events so far in 2025. He missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open in California, finished solo second at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California, and finished tied for 39th at the Genesis Invitational in California. The 37-year-old Irishman has the experience, skill, and mentality to compete at the highest level, and 2025 presents another opportunity for him to add to his legacy. His ability to excel in tough conditions and on challenging courses makes him a dangerous player in the Majors, particularly at The Open Championship and the PGA Championship. If he can dial in his putting and capitalize on more scoring opportunities, he has the potential to turn strong finishes into victories. The expectations for Shane Lowry’s 2025 are maybe one surprise win, will contend at the Open Championship, will make the European Ryder Cup Team as a Captain’s Pick, and will finish a top 25 player on the official world golf rankings.
