John Cena to Participate in His Final Royal Rumble Ever in 2025
Four months ago during the Money in the Bank PLE, John Cena announced his retirement from WWE in 2025. It will be his final year as an in-ring performer and he plans on making 2025 his retirement tour. A few days ago, Cena confirmed his participation in the 2025 Royal Rumble event. This will be the first stop on the retirement tour for Cena as he intends to make an impact in his final run. Will he become a 17-time World Champion to put himself ahead of Ric Flair? Could he possibly win the Royal Rumble match and set himself up to win it in the main event of WrestleMania?
John Cena has won the Royal Rumble match twice and maybe he’ll win it for a third time in his career. He won it in 2008 and 2013 entering at No. 30 and 19. Cena also intends to wrestle at Elimination Chamber, as well as WrestleMania 41, which will be his last for both events. After WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, Cena will still wrestle until the end of 2025, we just don’t know how much. At some point, fans will expect Cena to make his final run for the World Championship, aiming to secure a record-breaking 17th title and put him at number one all-time for World title reigns.
Not only is Cena a 16-time World Champion, he’s a five-time United States Champion. During a couple of those reigns as United States Champion, he has offered up open challenges to young superstars on NXT and the main roster hoping to make names for themselves. A couple of those include Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. With this retirement run for Cena, he’ll get to handpick his opponents because he’s a WWE Hall of Famer, so fans are really excited to see who he chooses off this loaded roster. There are certain superstars fans want to see Cena's face including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and even Gunther. Triple H stated in the Money in the Bank press conference that he doesn’t know what kind of stories will unfold with this retirement tour or who he’ll face in the process.
