Knicks Look to Extend Winning Streak Against Western Conference Powerhouse
This New York Knicks basketball team is really starting to look like a unit that's ready to compete and contend come playoff time. During this home stretch they have picked up crucial wins against competitive west teams. They have also managed to score over 140 points each of the last two games which hasn’t been done by a Knicks team since 1965. This team is making history left and right and showing they have no means of slowing down any time soon.
Game Insight
Now the Knicks may currently have a four game win streak but Wednesday night they welcome arguably the best player in basketball, Nikola Jokic, and the 28-18 Denver Nuggets. Jokic has been playing out of his mind in the month of January. He can almost be guaranteed a triple double every single time he touches the floor. The key to establishing a victory here will be slowing him down but also not giving him all the attention as the nuggets have sharpshooters everywhere on the floor that can make you pay when being left open. If the knicks are able to monitor all the threats the Nuggets have at their disposal they should be able to keep the win streak alive.
Key Matchup
The top matchup everyone is looking forward to watching has to be Karl-Anthony Towns vs Nikola Jokic. Two top 3 centers in the league that continuously dominate in every area of the game this one should be absolutely electrifying to witness. Now the last time they played each other in November, Towns got the best of the matchup with 30 points and 15 rebounds. Look for this one to be even more of a slugfest as we have seen the play of Jokic get increasingly more impressive as the season has gone on.
Player To Watch
Mikal Bridges has been lighting it up in the past few games and I look for that to continue against this Nuggets team. Bridges started hearing all the noise after he began to fall into a shooting slump mid season. As of late though, he has been playing at an all star level and like the player we knew he could be. He is now an essential piece to this offense and one of the best third scoring options league wide.
