Knicks Look to Welcome the Sacramento Kings to the Garden Following a Four-Day Hiatus
The Reason to Tune In
The Knicks made history this week by having two all-star starters for the first time in fifty years. This of course is superstar guard Jalen Brunson as well as the newest double-double machine in the Big Apple in Karl-Anthony Towns. The last time this was done was in 1975 when Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe got the nod. It is refreshing to see such a predominant duo in New York and will be exciting to see what they do in their first game together after receiving such a prestigious honor.
Game Insight
Now this looks to be a promising matchup as the Kings have been extremely impressive to begin their 2025 campaign. The Sacramento Kings are 9-2 to begin the year as the New York Knicks have won their past two games and are looking to build upon those wins. It will be interesting to see how New York is able to adjust to a hungry Kings team that has been on a tear as of late, winning seven games in a row earlier this month and playing basketball similar to that of two years ago when they sat atop the West. I do think having the home-court advantage plays a big part in this game as we know how passionate both of these fan bases can be so I would give the Knicks a slight edge here but expect a very tight matchup.
Key Matchup
The matchup to watch here would have to be Domantas Sabonis vs. Karl-Anthony Towns. With the top two rebounders in the league battling it out in the world's most famous arena, safe to say this one deserves all the attention. It is guaranteed to be physical and both players will be able to showcase their unique play styles. It is no secret how dominant these players are at rebounding the ball but they are both equally as good at scoring. Sabonis and Towns are nearly guaranteed to post a double-double every time they play and it will be exciting to see who gets the upper hand in this matchup.
Player To Watch
You can look for O.G. Anunoby to have a solid game here. Off a twenty-point performance against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night Anunoby is looking to get back to the way he performed at the beginning of the season and contribute on an all-star level to this Knicks team the way he most definitely can. I like this matchup against the Kings due to the lack of attention I think he'll receive from defenders who will have their hands full dealing with his scoring-threat teammates. I don't personally believe the Kings have enough pieces defensively to keep up with the Knicks high powered offense so you can expect Anunoby to shine here.
