Moments That WWE Fans Want to See Happen in 2025
2025 could quite possibly be the most anticipated year of professional wrestling we’ve ever seen. Last week, we saw the debut of Monday Night Raw on Netflix, kicking off a new era in WWE. This move to Netflix will give the WWE more eyes as they’re now being mainstreamed on the most viewed streaming platform in the world. Through all the years in WWE history, fans have gotten to witness moments that they’ll never forget such as title wins, debuts and returns, and many more. In 2025, we may be seeing lots of moments that will live on for generations to come.
John Cena Wins His 17th World Title
Last week during the first Raw on Netflix, John Cena came out to address his retirement tour for 2025. He was teasing the fans by saying he’s not going to go after his 17th World Championship, but the idea of entering the 2025 Royal Rumble match came to fruition for Cena. He claimed that he was going to enter the Royal Rumble and win it. It’s now possible that we could see John Cena surpass Ric Flair for the most World Championships reigns. It’d be a perfect way to send John Cena into retirement by having him have one last World Championship run.
Sheamus Winning the Intercontinental Championship to Become a Grand-Slam Champion
“The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus just signed a five-year contract extension with WWE, so it looks like we’ll be seeing him around for a while these next five years. Sheamus has done so much in the WWE these last 16 years. He’s won every single championship except one that has eluded Sheamus his entire career, the Intercontinental Championship. If Sheamus wins the Intercontinental Championship this year, not only will he be a grand slam champion, but he will solidify himself as one of the greatest to ever do it. He has a chance to do so next week on Saturday Night’s Main Event when he faces off against Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship.
CM Punk Main-Eventing WrestleMania
CM Punk has had quite the run since he returned to WWE at Survivor Series in 2023. Last year, he was put on the shelf with a torn tricep, so he wasn’t able to fulfill his dream of main-eventing WrestleMania. Punk has also gone to war with Drew McIntyre for a solid part of 2024. Last Monday on the debut of Raw on Netflix, Punk faced off against a man in the main event that doesn’t like him very much, Seth “Freakin” Rollins. This past Monday, Rollins came out to interrupt Punk and say that “last week was the worst loss I’ve ever had in my career.” Rollins then set his sights on the Royal Rumble to throw Punk over the top rope and ruin his dreams of main-eventing WrestleMania. Punk then responded by saying he’s going to enter the Rumble as well. If CM Punk wins the Royal Rumble, he’ll finally accomplish his dream of competing in the main event of WrestleMania.
