The Final Boss Returns to SmackDown
WWE has issued a press release announcing that The Rock will return to the February 21st episode of SmackDown at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. This will be The Final Boss’ first appearance since January 7th, during an episode of NXT, which was just a day after the debut of Monday Night Raw on Netflix. His return is a clear indication that we are on the Road to WrestleMania. The real question is: Why is he returning now?
As we begin our journey to WrestleMania 41, The Rock's return is sure to stir up the excitement and drama that fans love. The build to WrestleMania 40 was one of, if not, the greatest build to a Mania ever leading to one of the greatest WrestleMania main events ever. With him joining his cousin Roman Reigns and The Bloodline to thwart Cody Rhodes finishing his story. The Rock also made an appearance at Bad Blood in Atlanta where Cody and Roman teamed up to face The New Bloodline. The Rock did a slit throat gesture, counted down from three and his music played and walked off. Will he possibly hint what that finally means? Will he challenge Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship at Las Vegas, or will he surprise everyone with a different announcement regarding his participation at the Show of Shows?
Fans have felt that the Road to WrestleMania has taken a weird turn since the Royal Rumble and have been waiting for something big. The Rock’s return will most certainly make it feel more exciting. Paul “Triple H” Levesque commented in the press release, “Everything can change in an instant,” hinting that The Rock’s presence could lead to unexpected developments. Many are speculating about possible matchups. Such as Cody, Roman, or even John Cena for his retirement tour. Fans have speculated a Cody match since last year and most of them still feel like that's the way to go. Roman could be interesting. It could lead to Tribal Combat for the Ula Fala to become the Tribal Chief. John Cena however is in his last year as a professional wrestler, and he and Rock have not wrestled since WrestleMania 28 and 29 where they are tied one win a piece. The only way to find out is to stay tuned and see who the Final Boss wants to lay the SmackDown on.
