The New York Rivalry Just Got Better

Things got a little more heated in the Big Apple this coming season. With the arrival of two hot-headed quarterbacks, the rivalry between the New York Giants and the New York Jets just got slightly more interesting. Things have also gotten much more hopeful for the Giants and the Jets in the coming year. The passion and thrill have been built up so far during this offseason, and this coming year will have an even bigger rivalry than usual, starting with the quarterbacks. 

The Giants' arrival of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson has made a turnaround. He has already brought in a ton of leadership and made connections with many of the players on the offensive line. His presence has provided stability and made it possible for the Giants to have more completions than they did last season and try out new things that have been able to work for the team. Wilson also brings a lot of determination to the team. Last season, he took the Steelers to the first round of the playoffs. This may be the case for the Giants this coming season. It’s also good for them, and now they can compete against tougher teams. This may be the year after the last several seasons of Big Blue, where they did not have a good streak.  

The Giants have also spent a lot of time rebuilding their offensive and defensive lines this offseason, which is another huge factor for them. They have plenty of strong players who will work well this season, despite the recent scuffles the team has gotten into; they have managed to put together a well-rounded team. That is coming from both the draft and the players picked up in free agency during the offseason. The Giants have spent time putting their roster back together, trying to be bigger and better than they have been. 

On the other hand, Justin Fields's arrival has already made a difference for the New York Jets. He’s bringing energy that the Jets haven’t seen in years. It’s a good sign and a decent look for them. Last season, he also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he was under Wilson's mentorship. Fields is also a dual threat, as he can run, and he thrives when passing the ball down the field. He’s already made the franchise look much better than it has in the last two seasons. 

The Jets had to go under a major rebuild this offseason. They fired their head coach and general manager in the middle of last season. They spent time trying to fix nearly everything, starting with the front office and going down to the bottom of the team. By the end of last season, they were in worse shape than the Giants. They have made it a point to try to get as many decent bodies as possible on their roster, and so far, they have been successful. 

Fans will see how this matchup plays out this season. The Giants may come back with a few wins against the Jets that they have not been able to have over the past few years. They will only play against each other once during this season, and that will be during the preseason, in the first game of the year. It will be an interesting game, and many fans will be hyping up both sides more than ever. 

Having both quarterbacks already in New York suggests this rivalry will continue for the rest of this season within each team's division. Many are excited to see what will happen when Wilson and Fields land on the field together in the offseason and this year's regular season. They know that both quarterbacks will try to outdo one another when they play against each other. Having the two of them set the stakes higher in the Meadowlands and heightened the competitiveness around the football league. This year’s rivalry between these two is going to be electrifying.
