This NXT Legend May Fall Into Obscurity on the WWE Main Roster
Many NXT stars get called up to the WWE’s main roster and instantly become big deals. However, the same cannot be said for the rest, as they end up falling into the mid-card scene with no clear plans. Unfortunately, it seems like an NXT legend who is soon getting her main roster call-up may suffer that same fate. Despite being a two-time NXT Women’s Champion and former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, there is doubt about how Roxanne Perez will be treated on the main roster.
Roxanne Perez has recently been making appearances on Raw and SmackDown, signaling that she is going to get called up soon. However, they have almost all been in losing efforts, and it’s clear that WWE believes her new tag team partner, Giulia, has the potential to be a bigger star. Perez holds a 2-13 record in 2025 and is currently on a nine-match losing streak. Although she has been in matches with the likes of Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY, Stephanie Vaquer has also been facing top competition on Raw recently and has had much more success.
With the recent release of Cora Jade, there is a chance that WWE sees something in Roxanne Perez as a singles star. Perez has been referred to by many as the best women’s wrestler in the world, which is mostly due to her amazing in-ring ability, but also because she can get fans invested in each of her matches. She was trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T and is a former ROH Women’s Champion, which certainly makes her a bigger name among the casual audience. Perez has built a huge fan base for herself, and that’s something that the WWE could look at as a positive going forward.
However, it’s been seen on numerous occasions that many NXT wrestlers who thrived in developmental end up fading on the main roster. Recently, former NXT Women’s Champions Indi Hartwell and Shayna Baszler were released by the WWE. It’s very unlikely that Perez will suffer the same fate, but at the same time, she may not become a permanent main eventer on the women’s roster. Considering that the WWE sees more in Vaquer and Giulia than they do in Perez, she could end up being no more than an upper midcarder with one or two world title reigns.
