Two-Time Pro Bowl Tight End Signs with Broncos

NFL

Two time Pro-Bowl tight end Evan Engram signs with the Denver Broncos. With this deal his new team will be banking on a return to form as well as him reaching the high ends of his potential. Known as more as a pass catcher than a blocker Engram has made a name for himself running routes. It was this ceiling as a receiver that was responsible for him being drafted 23rd overall in 2017 by the New York Giants.

Starting his career with the Giants he had and up and down start to his career. As the two-time Pro-Bowl tight end had his games and yards decline in each of his first three season and his touchdowns decline in his first four. It was in this fourth season that Engram made his first Pro Bowl despite only having 654 receiving yards and one touchdown. The following year his yardage fell and he wound up only starting 12 games.

This down turn led Engram to sign with the Jaguars were he flashed the upside that led him to being a first round pick. The two time Pro-Bowl tight end booms with big games mixed in with occasional lackluster performances. Despite his first round pedigree he was never able to fully live up to that first round potential until his age 29 season. Where he made his second Pro Bowl and had over 950 yards receiving on 114 receptions. This is the type of output that his new team will be expecting.

The very next season he followed that up with another year where he failed to meet expectations. As this past season he only played in nine games recording 365 yards receiving. On this $23 million deal the Broncos are getting upside in the two time Pro-Bowl tight end. They are banking on a relatively healthy season but Engram is now on the wrong side of thirty and the clock is running out to record his first thousand yard season.
