Unstoppable Eagles: Dallas Dismantled in a Blowout
The Eagles took care of business on the road in Arlington with a massive victory against the Cowboys. Dallas kept the game within range in the first half, but Philadelphia pulled away in the second half. Quarterback Cooper Rush had an underwhelming performance, throwing for less than 60 yards in the first half. Second-string quarterback Kenny Pickett came into play all of the fourth quarter, as the victory was essentially sealed by the third quarter. All things considered, the Eagles once again performed how they were expected against a short-handed Dallas squad. The victory also marks their fifth consecutive, and they are rolling into a pivotal stretch of the season. With the Commanders losing to the Steelers today, the Eagles also regain control of the NFC East. All things considered, let’s dissect where the Eagles executed today.
The only downside of the Eagles’ performance today was their first-half turnovers. Jalen Hurts had a costly red zone interception paired with a fumble. Unfortunately for Hurts, it ended his streak of consecutive games without a turnover. Hurts bounced back in the second half, passing for two touchdowns and rushing for another. Through all four quarters, Hurts seemed to stay composed within the offense. Running back Saquon Barkley had a quiet day for his standards, accumulating 66 yards on 14 carries. All things considered, his presence within the offense is imperatively vital. A.J. Brown had a massive day, hauling in five receptions for 109 yards. Although predicted otherwise, DeVonta Smith had a quiet day as well, recording only two receptions for 14 yards. It was ideal to see Dallas Goedert see the end zone as well, scoring his first touchdown coming back from injury. The defense looks to be amongst the most dominant in the league to this point. They allowed zero touchdowns, and just two field goals. Even with Dallas being short-handed on offense, it is highly impressive for the defense to have this stout performance on the road. Linebackers Nakobe Dean and Zack Baun continue to shine, flashing all over the field today. The identity seems to be coming together for the defense, at the perfect time of the season.
Looking at the season to this point, the Eagles couldn’t ask to be in a better spot. They are 7-2, control the division now, and are relatively healthy. The team has not lost in over a month and they seem to finally be putting it all together. They head into a tough stretch of the season with divisional matchups and good teams ahead. We will certainly see what this team is made of over the next month.
