USA vs. Brazil: Here’s What to Expect

The USWNT will be coming in hot with star players like Lilly Yohannes. The young midfielder from Springfield, Virginia has been making waves during her time on the national team. Scoring her first goal within her first season on the team showed the soccer world she was here to stay. Yohannes will be someone Brazil needs to lookout for. What Brazil will be using to their advantage is that past key players like Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, and Sophia Wilson are missing from the USWNT roster. Players that played major roles in defeat over Brazil in past competitions.

Both teams are known as powerhouses of the sport, so it was no surprise when they met fighting for the gold medal. It was a hard fought game, but ultimately the U.S. came out victorious with a 1-0 win. Mallory Swanson scored the single goal to take the title. Brazil put up a strong fight but could not break down the US defense, and the match was a testament to the growing rivalry between these two footballing powerhouses. With this, Brazil is ready for revenge. 

As of 2025, the Brazil women's national team has yet to play a game, leaving fans in the dark about what to expect from them this year. While Brazil has historically been a powerhouse in women's football, with talented players like Marta leading the charge for many years, the absence leaves uncertainty about how the squad will perform in upcoming tournaments.
