What Is the Problem with the New York Knicks?

NBA

One of the teams with the most talk surrounding them heading into the 2024-2025 NBA season is the New York Knicks. They are struggling to find their team chemistry after their lineup underwent a full revamp after their run through the playoffs. Star point guard Jalen Brunson hasn’t looked himself, despite his performance on Sunday, November 10th, against the Indiana Pacers. They have a bunch of new faces, and they are struggling to truly get their feet on the ground running.

Karl-Anthony Towns has been taking this team with some command despite Brunson’s true leadership. The defensive wing tandem of Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby have been providing some spark at each end of the floor, but their performance is lacking. The true hustle man of Josh Hart has been playing his role to the full potential with playing the role. The bench has been lackluster with Miles McBride spearheading and Tyler Kolek and Jericho Sims playing minor roles off the bench.

The problem with the Knicks so far this season is that they lack a defensive presence. They have the players with the potential to truly slow down any roster, but they just haven’t produced at the expected level. Brunson has been playing well, but his three-point shooting isn’t at the level it was last year. Bridges’ shot form has been inconsistent, causing him to play below expectations. The season is still young, but the Knicks will need to figure it out quickly if they want to compete with the rest of the Eastern Conference.
