What to Expect from the New England Patriots with Mike Vrabel
After a one-year head coaching stint with former player Jerod Mayo, the Patriots are now looking to another former New England Patriots linebacker, Mike Vrabel, to fill the role of being the next New England head coach. Now, Mike Vrabel has former coaching experience with the Tennessee Titans for several years, and after a year of not being a head coach, he is now back in New England. Ever since Bill Belichick got pushed out the door by this franchise, the Patriots have been on the search for a true head coach to take the reins of this young team. With Vrabel now being put at the helm of one the greatest sports franchises in history, what can New England fans expect moving forward?
The Patriots finished this most recent season with a rough 4-13 record. This offense is completely devoid of talent at any position currently which is what resulted in this offense scoring the third least points and gaining the second least yards in the NFL. However, New England fans are hopeful that their young quarterback Drake Maye to lead this team once they get some weapons to help him develop. Mike Vrabel has made it clear that he is very excited to work with such a young and dynamic talent at quarterback with Maye, but there is still a lot of work to do on this offensive side of the ball. They will need to be stellar in the draft and get some dynamic skill position players to help Drake Maye develop.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots have regressed over the past few years, but they do have an outstanding corner with Christian Gonzalez that they should look to build off of. Now, Mike Vrabel is primarily a defensive head coach, so this should be the side of the ball that fans should expect to get corrected first. Despite the current hiring trend of offensive-minded coaches getting the bulk of the head coaching vacancies in the NFL, the Patriots have instead opted to go with the more defensive-minded Vrabel to try and fill this spot. Vrabel should provide a strong presence in this locker room and also instill these young players with some good fundamentals over the next few seasons. The New England Patriots faithful expect a bright future, and hopefully, Mike Vrabel and Drake Maye can be the answer.
