Why Jey Uso Needs to Lose the World Heavyweight Championship Soon

WWE

Jey Uso won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41. Since then, he has entered multiple feuds at once but has felt like the outlier in each of them. He is not as big of a star as Logan Paul, he cannot match the in-ring expertise of Gunther, and he is not a complete wrestler like Seth Rollins is. The problem has become that each of these men has called Uso out on this, with all of them stating that he is not built to be a world champion. Unfortunately, it seems that they are right, and it would benefit both Uso and the WWE if he loses the World Heavyweight Championship soon.

When Jey Uso won the 2025 Royal Rumble, fans were divided by the decision. Many believed that Uso had the charisma and popularity to hold a world title, while others pointed out his repetitive mic skills and inability to put on compelling matches. Unfortunately, that did not stop when he defeated Gunther at WrestleMania 41 to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. This decision by the WWE caused even more uproar, and for good reason.

Gunther is often referred to as the best wrestler in the WWE due to his amazing matches and ability to tell a story, and replacing that with a wrestler who many believe simply does not possess those same traits may have been a huge mistake. Since his win, multiple wrestlers have called Jey Uso out for not being ‘world champion material.’ Although that is an on-screen story, the problem with the story is that it has too much truth to it. Seth Rollins has stated that Uso does not know what to do with his power as a world champion, and Gunther told Uso to his face that he cannot carry the weight of holding the World Heavyweight Championship.

Jey Uso has yet to prove both wrestlers wrong and with the critiques of his in-ring wrestling continuing to grow, he might not be the right fit for a world championship. It seems that Uso has not moved on from the “YEET” era, and it would make sense if a wrestler with a much more serious presentation were to take that title away. As of right now, there are too many top names that would make the World Heavyweight Championship more legitimate, such as CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, and Karrion Kross. Uso’s first world title reign should end soon, and if it doesn’t, then the Raw men’s division will be held down greatly.
