Can the Bears Save Their Season with a Win Over the Patriots?

NFL

Not too long ago, the Chicago Bears were looking like they had all the momentum on their side, but unfortunately, things changed after their bye week. A heartbreaking loss against the Commanders and an embarrassing loss this past Sunday against the Cardinals puts the Bears at a 4-4 record, which is last in the NFC North. Before the bye week, Caleb Williams was looking like a true play-caller in this league running the offense, and on the other hand, the defense was as stellar as can be. Since their bye week, both the offense and defense have been completely disappointing for the Bears. Their upcoming game this Sunday is at home against the New England Patriots, who sit in last place in the AFC East with a 2-7 record. The number one overall pick, Caleb Williams, goes up against the number three pick of the draft, Drake Maye, in a rookie quarterback matchup.

With the loss to the Cardinals this past Sunday, the Bears record on the road in the U.S. extends to 0-4. They’ll be back at Soldier Field for this matchup, where the Bears remain undefeated with a 4-0 record at home. Things didn’t look great for the Bears this past Sunday when Williams got injured in the final seconds of the blowout game, but it looks like he’ll be good to go this Sunday. New England didn’t have the best turnout during their last game against the Titans after a game-winning field goal was good for the Titans to catch their second win of the season, despite sending the game to overtime. The Patriots offense still remains to be one of the worst in the league and they’ll have a tough test against the Bears defense that should be stellar this week.

The Bears hope to regain all the momentum they lost after their bye week with a win over the Patriots this Sunday. Starting next week, the Bears have a tough stretch of the rest of their schedule as they start to play the other teams in the NFC North, who’ve been showing themselves as true contenders in the NFL. A Bears win this Sunday could boost some morale and momentum they lost after their bye week heading into the second-half stretch of their schedule. If Caleb Williams can get back to playing how he did before the bye as the play-caller he knows he can be, the Bears could look good heading into next week. The defense also needs to get back into that domination mentality if Chicago wants to succeed for the rest of the season. The run game with D’Andre Swift needs to be there as well if the Bears want to win.
