Career Summary
Straka turned professional in 2016 and joined the PGA Tour in 2019. He has a total of three tour wins and zero Major wins. His three tour wins came at the 2022 Honda Classic, the 2023 John Deere Classic, and the 2025 American Express. In the 171 events that the 31-year-old has played, he’s made the cut 103 times, finished runner-up three times, finished third twice, has 15 top-five finishes, and 23 top 10 finishes. Straka has been a true definition of a tour grinder his whole career. He’s, by no means, a household name, nor has he rattled off a bunch of wins, but he does find a way to give himself a chance at every tournament week in, week out. The Austrian’s Major record has been so-so. In the 14 Major Championships that he’s played, he’s missed the cut three times, had his best finish at the 2023 Open Championship where he finished tied for second, has three total top 10s, and four total top 25 finishes. Straka has one appearance for the European Ryder Cup team in 2023 and represented Austria at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. The University of Georgia Bulldog is currently ranked fifth in strokes gained total, 49th in strokes gained off the tee, fifth in strokes gained on approach shots, 112th in strokes gained around the green, and 43rd in strokes gained putting. He is currently the 17th-ranked player on the Official World Golf Rankings.
2025 Expectations
Straka has played in five events so far in 2025. He finished tied for fifth at the Sentry in Hawaii, tied for 30th at the Sony Open in Hawaii, first at the American Express in California, tied for seventh at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California, and 15th at the WM Phoenix Open in Arizona. Straka has proven he has the tools to win at the highest level, and 2025 presents a golden opportunity for him to take another step forward. His approach game remains one of his biggest assets, and if he can sharpen his short game and putting, he could break through for multiple wins this season. The expectations for the remainder of Sepp Straka’s 2025 are at least one more tour win, will compete at one or more of the Majors, betting on the U.S. Open and the Open Championship, will make the European Ryder Cup Team as an automatic qualifier or Captain’s Pick, and will finish a top 20 player on the Official World Golf Rankings.
