Shedeur Sanders and the Giants One Concern
There has been talk again and again about who the Giants are going to draft in this year's NFL draft. They have plenty of options that they can go with and some who have even said that they want to step in and fill the open position. The top two talks that the Giants are currently sitting back and questioning while they sit still at the third overall pick. The Giants are currently thinking about picking up Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. This conversation has gone on for a while, however these two may be gone with the Tennessee Titans having the first pick and the Cleveland Browns having the second pick. Ward may not even be in the question at this point with how many franchises that have been gunning to get him onto their roster. He may be gone within moments of the draft beginning. Though there has not been much talk of the Titans picking him up. The Browns however may be a different story. The Giants may want to trade up for this draft pick.
Sanders on the other hand, has been more of a talk around the NFL recently. There is no doubt that he wants to be a New York Giant and considering that the Giants general manager Joe Schoen has attended some of the Colorado games personally and some of the practices to see how he has played, this may be the Giants clear choice. However, they have their concerns for this team. The Giants may not actually have their minds made up about him.
Sanders is a great quarterback and always has been during his time playing for the college. He threw for 4,134 yards for 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 74 percent of his passes. This is something that the Giants are looking for in this coming season; someone who passes the ball with efficiency and accuracy. They have Tommy DeVito, but he is not enough to get them to where the Giants need to be. There are a few concerns though about getting this current college quarterback and getting him to the next level coming into the NFL.
One of the bigger reasons that they aren’t sure about him is because of the influence of his father, Deion Sanders, and the spotlight that is shining bright on the pairing that it could bring to New York. It would be great. However, the worry that the Giants have is that Sanders' father may step in where he shouldn’t. He has been coaching his son almost his entire life and the Giants are worried that he may not be able to step away from that and the coaching ability may be harder for him if he is not there. It’s not just the Giants that are seeing this as an issue, there are other franchises that are also noticing this too.
Regardless, despite everything, the Giants are certainly interested in Sanders. They are going to continue to evaluate as to what they are going to do before the draft. If he and star wide receiver Malik Nabers were to hit the field together, it would be a good thing considering how well they both did in college and in the NFL respectively last season. The Giants really need something, and Sanders may just be their guy if they can’t get ward.
