Should Trick Williams Be Worried?

WWE

Wednesday night, we saw NXT, not on its typical Tuesday night. Instead, we saw these young superstars in the 2300 Arena, where ECW originally took place. During this episode of NXT, which paid homage to some of the ECW alumni, NXT Champion Trick Williams and one-half of The Dudley Boyz, Bubba Ray Dudley teamed up against Ridge Holland and former NXT Champion Ethan Page. Many were shocked in the 2300 Arena when Holland rolled up the champion for a three count to get the victory. Even though Bubba Ray and Trick got their revenge by using some of the Dudley’s signatures along with bringing on D-Von Dudley out, however, this pin does not look good for the two-time NXT Champion in Williams. After this loss, should Trick be worried?

The next premium live event for NXT is Deadline, which will take place on December 7th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At Deadline, we could see Holland take on Williams for the NXT Championship. Perhaps Deadline’s Iron Man Survivor challenge will include the likes of Holland, Page, and other suitable contenders to determine a number one contender for the NXT Championship. Any option would certainly be interesting as we get closer to ending out the year, one of the biggest questions WWE has to be contemplating is will they call up the two-time NXT Champion to the main roster this year or make him the first-ever three-time NXT Champion since he’s arguably NXT’s biggest star ever and keep Williams in NXT for one or possibly two more years.

Williams’ star power could gauge the story in either direction. Either way, if he stays in NXT, he'll certainly be a three-time champion, if Williams is called up to the main roster, depending on what brand he gets drafted to, we could see him back with the likes of Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown, or perhaps ease his way on Raw and become Intercontinental or World Heavyweight Champion. We know Ridge Holland will continue to be the aggressor and attack Williams at all costs to win his first-ever NXT Championship. Whether Holland is the number one contender during or after Deadline is another question that yet remains unseen. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out and whether Trick Williams can defy the odds once again.
