SmackDown General Manager Announces New Title for the Women’s Division

WWE

On the November 8th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, general manager Nick Aldis announced that a new title is coming to the blue brand. The WWE Women’s United States Championship has become a reality. This will make women’s mid-card feuds even more intriguing. This past year, the Men’s United States Championship has brought across some great feuds with the likes of Logan Paul against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania XL, Logan Paul versus LA Knight at SummerSlam, then LA Knight facing both Carmelo Hayes and Andrade at Crown Jewel. The Women’s United States Championship will be a blessing to have in the company. Even though there is so much talent from the women superstars in WWE, not all of them will get a World Championship or WWE Championship shot. This title will go a long way in building up the women superstars of the future.

In April, NXT created the NXT Women’s North American Championship to help gauge the feuds in the mid-card. This helped push the likes of Kelani Jordan, and now Fallon Henley. There is so much talent within the women’s mid-card on SmackDown, that figuring out who will become the inaugural champion is still extremely tough. We could see the likes of Naomi, Chelsea Green, Piper Niven, Tiffany Stratton, Michin, Candice LaRae, and even Natalya go after this new gold. We are still waiting for Raw to eventually confirm the likes of a Women’s Intercontinental Championship, as that title would really put forth the stories within the mid-card on Raw. However, SmackDown has just stepped their game up and brought forth a long-time rumored and wanted championship. Whoever is this inaugural champion, we know they deserve this new gold for all the right reasons.

If I had to guess who would be the inaugural champion, I would have to choose between Naomi, Chelsea Green, or Michin. All three of these women have had a phenomenal 2024, they have the chance to divulge into a new era of their careers. I believe Stratton will eventually cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase since she did not cash in at Crown Jewel, and most likely she will cash in WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax. Just as LA Knight is doing with the Men’s United States Championship since winning it at SummerSlam, defending the title at every opportunity possible, I would like to see this Women’s United States Championship defended just as often. It would be great to see, and great recognition for this new championship. While the Men’s and Women’s WWE Speed Championship is cool to see, the Women’s United States Championship is a stepping stone into the future of WWE.
